Our office has two people going to Revit Structure.

Training is $1500/day for Applied Software, Inc. and other similar resellers.

Any one know a good alternative? (We are in Macon, Ga)
webcasts?
non-authorized trainers?
really good tutorials?

We purchased Revit for our department (five person civil/structural group within a mechanical engineering firm) last year. Everyone in the department went to a three day training seminar (at prices similiar to what you described). Afterwords when we tried to use Revit for the first time we found that we were all lost. We really struggled to make it work. We found that we were constantly going back to the training manuals and taking the on line tutorials at the Revit site. In addition there are online forums dedicated to Revit. My advice is to get all the training you can but still be prepared to spend alot of time learning the program. Based on our experience I would say the third project you use it on is when it will start to pay off. We really like the program and we would recommend it.

Thanks steve1. That is good to know...great advice.

So I will definately need to get formal training first.

Then I'll need to do some learning on my own (by way of Autodesk tutorials and manuals)

Does any one know of an unauthorized trainers (might be cheaper than authorized)?
Does anyone know about any good tutorial sites?
Does anyone know about any good webcast sites?

Maybe authorized trainers and Autodesk tutorials are the only way...but I would think their would be a more practical/economical approach to training.

Also check with DGCAD.COM - he has video training for Revit Architecture and Structure. Not a bad price either.

WOW!!!
Vaughnmr, that site is perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. You helped a young engineer out. Thanks.
