Does anyone have an idea regarding corrosion inhibitor injection retrievable quill orientation and spacing on existing parent piping

Yes.

Normally points back in the direction of flow - a drawing would help.

You normally need something like 15 to 20D min if the quill is in centre of the pipe before the CI reaches the pipe wall.

what about the direction of quill on the pipe?. is it mandatory to install at 12 'o'clock or any direction

That means orientation, not direction - hence why supplying a drawing or a sketch is important.

Usually 12, but could be anywhere from 9 to 3. Just for good orientation and to allow removal under pressure if required.

Usually not on the bottom half.

Vendor usually has some input into this.

thanks for your reply. could you clarify me one more doubt: can we inject the quill into a vertical direction pipe?

A bit unusual, but I can't see why not. Probably better to flow down in the main pipe.

What's the background here?

It would be a good idea to review the instructions for whatever injection quill that you purchase as they may have different recommendations.

The Dover instruction recommend installation on the bottom while the Saf-T-Flow does not.

Don't think it matters whether the injection is vertical or horizontal.

"Install the quill pointing upward, in a position between 4:00 and 8:00 o'clock in the pipe to allow gravity to assist the check valve in seating. Spring loaded models may be installed in other positions if necessary."

What is important is that the fluid is flowing.
