chemical or metallurgical PE

I have a masters in metallurgical eng from ABET accredited program and bachelors in chemical from a non-ABET
I have 17 years of experience and requesting waiver of FE. State : Texas

I am more confident in chemical than metallurgical. Which is a better PE exam to take?

Given my FE waiver request and ABET program, will it be easier to apply for metallurgical PE?

Very simply, you sit for the exam for the discipline which you will be most comfortable practicing. One exam is no better than another, it all comes down to what you want to put on the line when you stamp or submit drawings, and paperwork to a client.

Oh, regarding your second question. First, there is no guarantee you will receive a waiver for the EIT. Since you attended an ABET school, why would you need one? Take the EIT and pass it. You realize that your PE will most likely be limited to Texas because other States may/will require evidence of having passed the EIT.

Second, the Board will decide on which exam you are qualified to sit based on past experience. Since you did not mention past experience, I can't tell you which will be easier for approval.

EIT is a challenge because I have been out of undergrad school for 20 years. IF I have to focus, thought easier to focus on PE first.
my experience has been in natural gas engineering(compressors, pipeline, chemistry), so works for both chemical and metallurgical.

form exam prep perspective, seems more materials are available for chemical than metallurgical.

end of the day, I am happy to practice in both.
