Never tried the peanut butter. Maybe it's the peanut oil?

Dissolving gum can take time and leave you with a lot of liquid waste. Plus, you have to keep buying solvent.

Depending on the composition of the gum and the shape of the boiler, cooling it might help. Cooling hardens the gum. If it shrinks on cooling, it might pull away from the walls. Even if cooling doesn't separate it from the walls, maybe you could chip it out.

Get a sample of gum from a boiler and try cooling it in a lab to see if it might work.
