Hi,

Looking for opinions of Chiller manufacturers. Who has the most reliable brand these days? I'm looking at an air-cooled in the range of 60 tons. Part availability, and maintainability are also important, but mostly looking at reliability.

Thanks

fiberstress,

Trane has a CG series that is air-cooled in this range. The 60-ton has 4 scroll compressors, with two refrigerant circuits. I've used them for years in 24/7 production applications, and they've performed very well.

60-ton air cooled,
I'd see the noise level as critical in making choice on any air-cooled chiller.
Modular chillers tend to give you more redundancy and are much quieter.

Hi,
I'm on the Corrosive California Coast and we've actually been having problems with Trane's coils and water chillers leaking (coated, aluminum, whatever), otherwise they've been good. Has anyone been impressed with York, Carrier, or McQuay?

For a 60-Ton ACC, I would either go with a York, or Carrier.

The reason being: Shell & Tube Evaporator. I try to avoid Plate & Frame at all costs.
