Choosen material not showing on all of model 1

Hi all,

Just ran into something odd, I modeled a drive shaft with multiple diameters some threads and keyways. When I applied the material alloy steel the color of some of the diameters changed but not others. Has anyone run into this? I'm using simplified material so it's not textures just color change. Any ideas? Thanks,

Maybe some surfaces have color override? Or maybe your video card?

Faces or features with colors assigned will not update when a material assignment changes the underlying body color. Makes me crazy.

Actually it makes sense (to me anyway) that a change to a parts material does NOT change the colour of individually assigned faces. Assuming you needed a face to be a different colour from the rest of the part, (e.g. to denote a painted surface) why would that change because the material changed?

What would be really nice is, when changing the material, you were given the option of changing all faces/features to match the material colour, or leaving them as assigned.

I agree that there is good reason to not change. It surprises me when I do not realize I had made a detail color change.

There is a macro available at

http://www.trimech.com/solutions/techsprt-free-utilities.htm

that removes the color assignments from all faces and features in a part. If this is something you come up against often you can get that macro and run it prior to assigning your material. I combined that macro with another on that site (Random Color) which I use all the time when I import IGES files for purchased parts in my machine designs.

Update:

I checked the display pane and no colors were assigned to any of the individual features. I downloaded and ran the macro handleman suggested. I applied the material and it worked perfectly. Now I'm not sure why but everything looks like it should. Again I love this forum.
