Hello experts,

I am new in automobile sheet metal part design with chunky method.

Before I used nx and I know in NX Synchronus Modeling is soo strong and have lots of easy ways to change part.

Really need chunky method every where? I can do change quickly with Synchronus Modeling.

What can you say about it?

Could you say your opinion and experince for me please.

Thank you.
Best regards
Mesut

The method you use for modeling various with each application.
Sometimes it is a benefit to use synchronus modeling and sometimes it is not.

Hello deedub777,

In chunky method:

Some OEM (Automobile factories are using this method)for design sheet metal parts.

Not using sketch,

Last data is not big size nearly half of another design methods.

If any design change request come to you can changed data quickly.

For example you are going to design a table you are desinging first block then you are cutting trash areas with bodies and then last part is your table become like this.

In sheet metal parts you are in the last you are making your design sheet metal with thickness and it is your sheet metal part happend.

I am learning also method.
Best regards.

So if you want to use chunky method, create the design in modeling by whatever method is efficient for you. When the design is complete, switch to the sheet metal application and use 'Convert to Sheet Metal' command.
If you use this method you have to be really careful your are honoring the design limitations of sheet metal parts for a successful conversion. If you create natively in sheet metal, you will find no issues - synchronous is not available in sheet metal for this reason - too easy to destroy the validity of the model.
