Circular slab foundations References

Does anyone know some good reference (book, code, ...) about reinforcement design of circular foundations? About radial and circumferential reinforcement versus orthogonal... And considerations for the reinforcement of a circular (or octagonal) flat slab for small tanks, etc. Thanks in advance.

When I was designing concrete tanks for waste treatment facilities we used a book by PCA called "Circular Tanks without Prestressing." Not sure if it is still in print or not. That was 15 years ago. There was also another book by PCA for square and rectangular tanks. The books covered the walls and the foundations.

3Fan: I know the PCA reference. Unfortunatelly, it does not say much about foundation. "Circular Tanks without Prestressing", at chapter 19, states: "There are several methods to determine the required base slab reinforcing. These methods include finite element analysis, complex mathematical solutions,and approximate methods. A rigorous treatment of a slab on an elastic foundation is beyond the scope of this publication" and it presents just some comments about the topics to considere in the design. Thanks for answer.

Always orthogonal with circumferential trimmer bars around the edges.

I would go with rapt... orthogonal isotropic reinforcing... has the same moment resistance no matter what the angle... one less hiccup removed.
