Hello all,

I am trying to find a forum (I believe in API code issues) that talks about citing codes.

I had found it not long ago and searched for hours and I have not had any luck.

The forum talked about when someone has a code book in a certain year and a new addendum comes out the following year. The forum asked how someone would cite that.

If anyone could help me find the forum, or even let me know the best way to site a code book with edition, addendum, section, and year it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

In my case, I cite the edition and addendum, "API-650, 12th Edition, Addendum 2" or whatever it is.

This is one way to deal with it:

Reference to any code, standard or regulation shall mean the latest published edition, including addenda, supplements and revisions thereto, which are in effect when the contract is awarded.

I am sure some will like, others will not.

To further those comments, just because a code/standard becomes published, it does not automatically the Regulator, e.g. PHMSA approves those new editions for use. For example, the 21st edition of API 1104 has a publish date of September 2013, but this edition has not yet been incorporated by reference into 49CPR Party 192 or 195.

Due diligence is required to insure that you use the most relevant edition.

For Part 192:
For Part 195:

This statement can be used: "The latest Regulator referenced editions of codes/specifications described in this purchase agreement shall be observed for this project. Should the regulator adopt, or incorporate by reference an updated edition of code/specification, the customer and vendor shall review the changes contained within, and agree upon the implementation timing within regulator requirements".
