Hi I am very new to the world of civil engineering. I am basically tasked with teaching myself the basics. However in my studies I have come across the term "General Arrangement Drawing". This might be a term you are all very familiar with but having no background in the field I am struggling to find the difference between regular architectural drawings. From all indication, they seem to be the same thing as the plans completed by drafting technicians. So my question is, how do general arrangement drawings differ from regular plans done by drafting technicians. For example: what is the difference between a foundation plan for a building, and a general arrangement drawing of a foundation? The same thing goes for a sectional elevation done by architects and a general arrangement elevation? If you could include images showing the differences, that would be lovely. Thank you.
