Clamping Unit 2

Hello,

I have few questions regarding hydraulic clamping units(used in Injection molding machines to hold die):

1. What is the difference between clamp stroke(or forward stroke) & safe stroke in a clamping unit?

2. How to calculate retaining force in clamping unit? I can calculate the clamping force, but no idea on retaining force.

3. Are there any standards which govern the design of such clamps?
