Can anyone guide me on the HV (132kV & 275kV) outdoor substation design especially on the clamps and connectors details the following arrangement: -

surge arrester - capacitor voltage transfomer - line isolator - current transformer - circuit breaker - busbar isolator

FYI, conductor used to connect between the above equipment is twin aluminium AAC stranded conductor.

Thank you.

Anyone who makes substation connectors can probably help you - Burndy, Anderson, Dossert, Sefcor, etc.

Might be easiest to order paper/cdrom catalogs.

For cable terminations [in the US] you can’t beat hydraulic-compressed types with ½-inch machine bolts on 1.75-inch centers…so-called ‘2-bolt’ and ‘4-bolt.’

Thanks, busbar, for adding web links.

sky72 - two standards you might want to check out for reference are ANSI C119.4-1998, "Standard for Electric Connectors for Use Between Aluminum-to-Aluminum or Aluminum-to-Copper Bare Overhead Conductors" and NEMA CC1-1993, "Standard for Electric Power Connectors for Substations". Don't have them myself, but they probably contain some useful information.

Since you are using AAC cable, you will want to use an aluminum-bodied connector on the cable. This connector can then be used for connection to either an aluminum or copper surface. I agree with busbar, I am partial to specifying equipment with 4-hole NEMA pads so I can attach a 2-hole NEMA compression lug to the cable and bolt it to the pad. The Anderson catalog has some good technical data at the back regarding aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-copper connections.

Now, what this site needs is an online all-inclusive ansi/iec/ieee/cigre/nema/cenelec/eei… standards subscription for $2.95 a month!
