Clean Agent Protected Spaces - Magnetic Door Holds 1

Are magnetic door holds (which are released and allow door closure prior to clean-agent discharge) an NFPA 2001 code requirement or good practice as part of sealing the room, as with damper and local A/C equipment shutdown / closure? I cannot find a clause that stipulates a requirement in the 2018 edition.

The requirements for a door to close in the event of a fire isn't address in NFPA 2001 - it's addressed in the Building Code adopted by the jurisdiction. The door may not be required to be constructed as a fire-resistive rated assembly and therefore, wouldn't required to be self-closing and self-latching. Provided the doors are equipped with closing hardware, it's a very good practice to employ magnetic hold-open devices. Authority to require door closers is addressed in NFPA 2001 Section 5.3.4:

To prevent loss of agent through openings to adjacent hazards or work areas, openings shall be permanently sealed [highlight #FCE94F]or equipped with automatic closures[/highlight].
