OK you computer guys - I've inherited a computer here at work and want to 'clean' all the files including the one above. Its on the C drive - Documents and Settings - cookies - index.dat.

I've cleared all the cookies, all the old files, temps, etc but this one has a lot of 'junk' in it that I don't want to be associated with if you get my meaning.

Does anybody know how to clean it? This even stumped our resident computer genius and MIS guys who are supposed to know.

Many thanks!!

Using Windows 2000 the best and easy way is makeing a starting script, a .bat file with the following commands:

rd /s/q (your cookies folder)
md (you cookies folder)\index.dat

executed once (as startup script) will deactivate the index.dat file forever making a folder with the same name :)

Thanks Melko
will that work with XP also?

Temporarily creat a new user profile with administrator rights.......Login with it.......Delete the offending index.dat file(s).

Think you can figure out the rest...

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL !!!!!!
