I have some tubes, with some tarnish and handling stains on it, I have heard from a colleague that you can use a dilute muriatic acid solution to wipe away the grime. Has anyone ever heard or tried this?
No, and before you do anything review the information below. I would contact Haynes directly and see what they have to offer. Steam cleaning may be all you need.
It sounded a little sketchy. I actually think the markings on these tubes may be a result of incomplete pickling. I am waiting on a response from Haynes to see about their process.
If these are in in transit I would refuse to install them until a mill representative visited the site and assured me in writing that the corrosion resistance is compromised.
I would hold their feet to the fire.
