Cleaning up DWG File Help 1

3 Parter today.

I have a few plant layout drawings that I'd like to clean up data wise. While generating a blank layout for some co-workers, I deleted almost everything out of the file and still found it to be +50MB in size. So where is the data at that is taking up so much space? Is there a simple way to clean up a file to reduce it's size? Any way to determine unused layers and delete them?

Part 2. Everytime I open a file I use almost everyday, I get this error: Specify shape file for genltshp.shx. Then I get 1 option under shape file: LTypeShp.shx. I click ok then it keeps loading until....

Part 3. I then get an error saying One or more externally referenced documents could not be located. How can I determine what it is trying to open and delete or suppress it so that it doesn't look for it and give me this error every open?

1. Have you tried the "Clean" command? It allows you to delete unused blocks as well as other things that can increase a file size.

2. Sounds like a font file is missing. I'm just guessing, but it might be possible to find a copy of it online to download and place in the font file location folder. You might have to do some digging to find the location for that.

3. The "References" command should pull up a palette that allows you to manage anything referenced in the drawing.
