Hello!

Another amateur question:
Several times, I sketch a complex profile that includes lines, radius, etc. When I try to use it as profile for cut or extrude, the message that the profile is open or self intersecting comes up. Up to now, I go back to sketching and trim everything by hand. In other similar programs, there is the command "close profile". Is there anything like this in CATIA ?

2) I cannot place the command "insert plane" on the workbench and keep ot there whenever I open CATIA. How can I do this ?

Thank you

Your problems sound like you have an older revision (f.e. R4 or R5) or the wrong service pack. This should be passed since R7.
In addition to "close profile": In my opinion, there isn't such a command. I missed it too in older versions, but till now (V5R8) I never had this problem.

There is not a command called “close profile” but from Catia 5V7 (SP4 or 5 I think) there is a command called “sketch analysis” you can find it under “tools”. This command should do the trick when you have problems whit sketches.
Best regards

Hello CATIA friends

For you information:
In the Sketch Analysis, you have the possibility to close automatically your profile.
Select the Button -> Close Opened Profile

But first you have to select the related profile in Detailed Information Line.

Good luck.
