hello,

I'm looking for a study which discuss the resistance of cloth to water steam or any other pressure.

or the maximal pressure that cloth can support.

thank you.

thank you but it doesn't what I'm looking for.

I want to use a nozzle for clean a cloth and I have to know the maximum force or pressure that a clothe can resist without cause it any damage.

this book and this chapter that you gave me doesn't include this information...

do you have any other idea?

thank you so much!

What type of cloth do you plan to clean?
What thickness of cloth?

How many washings do you want the cloth to be able to endure?

Mullen burst test is the standard fabric test for burst resistance.

Past that, you need to figure out what fabrics can stand the water and/or detergent exposure at the temperatures you are interested in. For instance, kevlar type para-aramids have extreme burst/penetration resistance, but very poor hydrolysis resistance, and thus kevlar vests and such have a limited number of wash cycles they are allowed before the vest must be discarded. Nomex, however, which is a meta-aramid, has very good hydrolysis resistance, but its chemical structure does not lend itself to forming fibers, and thus its burst strength is lower than kevlar.

The equation of the force of impact of a free water jet is a known by available references. Once you know the force of the jet, compare that against the strength of the fabric.

You might look at sites for fabric used to make protective clothing to be worn when using high pressure cleaning systems.
