Ive run into a lot of slack on the half-lap design.
I design the connection with screws as required for shear strength.
Big question right now is the seismic design R value. Everything I have see recommends R = 3; which is what I used.
SDPWS really only specifies their clips and it's design.

Any comments to this?

Do you mean pushback on the half lap from producers? I can see that as it requires more intense fabrication work. They'd much prefer to do plywood/OSB splice plates.

No
Comment committee.
Reading through SDWS & NDS there is not a lot of help.
Unless you use plates attaching the panels together. Panels are stitched together (half lap) creating a longer shear wall, aspect ratio less than 2; which should be good. having problems understanding their position.
