Coal bucket elevators 2

Can anybody supply general tips on avoiding spillage
and belt misalignment on a coal bucket elevator.
I realise that I have supplied minimal information.
I am not a qualified engineer or materials handling expert.
I have small company in South Africa which does various types of work in and around boiler plants.
It ends up that we have to know a little about everything.

Some of these may be obvious, if they are I apologise :-
1) Don't feed the elevator at more than its rated capacity, they don't like flood feeds.
2) Don't let the buckets fill up with dead material as this reduces the effective capacity.
3) Make sure the inlet chute guides material into the buckets.
4) Maintain the correct belt tension so the belt has less chance to wander on the pulleys.
5) Used crowned and lagged head pulleys.
6) Check the pulleys and the back of the belt for any buildup of material.
7) Check that the head pulley lagging and belt back covers are still there and in good condition.
8) If you maintain the headshaft ensure it is correctly aligned afterwards.
9) If you are worried about belt wander invest in belt alignment switches to warn of problems (
