Anyone have any ideas on putting a coating onto a reactive solid amine particles, or amine microcapsules?

Hi, coatingengineer,

the coating has to be very impermeable to amine molecules. I'd like to put a coating to microcapsules with a reactive amine core. I'll need to embedded the amine capsules into an epoxy matrix, and then cure the matrix at elevated temperature (350F) for 3hrs. If there is no coating, the amine would diffuse into the epoxy matrix. So I need a material that is not impermeable for amine molecules, and the coating materials has to be adhere to epoxy well.

Thanks a lot,

You might want to give RT Dodge a call as it looks like they may have the capability to meet your requirement.

You also need to look at silica, broad term, encapsulation for your application. I've been look for a source that rings a bell, but haven't found it yet. Epoxy likes silica and silica likes epoxy and it is inert to the amine.

Have you looked a Molecular Sieves for your application?
