coating to protect AISI 420c ?

Hello all,

We're developing a sliding window for a yacht and now we found a lineair guidance system of AISI 420c.
No other usable slides+bearings are found until now, which can resist the different momentale forces (It does need to be lubricated to resist these forces).

It's a slide with a V groove were on both sides bearings will be "guided". Since occasional splashes of saltwater are inevitable we need to prevent the V groove to corrode (sp?), so we want to apply a certain coating/grease.
Any thoughts on sorts of coating/grease ?

Would heavy duty grease, seawater resistant work ?

I would suggest a Teflon or fluoropolymer coatings. Then no grease maintance would ever be needed.

I know of a silicone dry lubricant that does not migrate from the treated surface and is easy to apply. It is not affected by salt water and should work well for your application. You can find this product at
