Coefficient of subgrade reaction

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me about the coefficient of subgrade reaction? Is it same as elasticity of soil? In either case is it possible to represent it by a spring support while modelling a structure in SAP or STAAD. If so, what is the normal value for common soil?
