Hey Guys,

I am trying to build a coffer dam to rebuild boundary walls of a lake. The lake floor had thin layer of clay and some harmful materials so environmental report said that the lake floor should not be disturbed. The designer recommended that earth coffer dam should be build by depositing CBR 8% material on lake floor in 3 loops. Sheet piling was not adopted as this would disturb the lake floor. We have build one section of coffer dam and tried to pump out water from it but the water level doesn’t go down much i.e. water is still passing through it or from under it through the lake floor. The work has stopped and can’t think of anything except sheet piling. Any recommendations would be very helpful.
The lake water depth is around 2m and width of coffer dam at top is 4m and bottom width around 6m.

I can imagine that the lake floor has not a constant thickness or maybe it is not continuously doveloped or it has been already disturbed. The sheet piling is an alternative in your situation.
