Could you please explain more, what is Cold Box. what type boiler are you talking about?? thanks Doug

We typically do a sensitive leak test that proves the integrity, if you do get internal access consider the following;

Inspect condition of all exchanger piping headers
Inspect condition of Cores for Fin Pluggage/Damage, Ensure Plastic Plugs are Intact on Dummy Passes
Perform LPI 100% of Header/Manifold Pressure Welds, Particular Attention to SS/Aluminum Explosion Welds
Perform LPI on the Corners of the Core at the End/Side Bars, and Where the Core Meets the Header.
Perform RT on the SS/Aluminum Transition Explosion Welds
Inspection

I suggest you contact Lloyd's Register Capstone in Houston. They have experience with doing RBI and associated inspections for cold boxes.

I had an experience of inspection of complex cold box while attending a leak in the cold box containing 04 heat exchangers and 02 drums.

During the repair, thorough inspection was carried out and I should be able to explain you the procedures adopted by us, provided you give me mroe details about the type of cold box you have and the objective of inspection.
