Why in color columnin Assembly anvigator I get "not set" text for part colors even if all solids in parts have color applied?
-most parts have only one solid body, simple design
-when in part color information for part in assembly navigaotr column is empty, it does not have "not set" value...

Is there any special attribute name for body color in NX?

The column in the assembly navigator refers to Component color, which can be quite different from body color in the source part (you can set a different color to different component instances of the same part, for example).

is it possible to see (in the assembly navigator) the color of the part that is set in the part itself? Because that is the color that is set to items when they are exported so colors set in assembly are irrelevant in my case.
or - how to set the color of the part so it is visible in the assembly navigator and is used when the part is exported?

You can set the components to inherit the color of their solid bodies (via the Edit Object Display dialog).

if only I do not have hundreds of components and if customer gives me unlimited tyme to play with manual editing of every part color in assemblies.
You can just say n that it is not possible.
Can I extract body color to expression so I can use it to make attributes that I can see in the assembly navigator?

You can automate this process using the DisplayModification class in NXOpen. Like, walk over every component, get the color of its prototype part's body, assign that color to the component.

There probably is a less complicated solution, maybe some of the pros here can chime in on that...

How is export function picking up solid body color if there is no particular information in part that can be extracted?
Why export function is not using color form assembly?

Every displayable object in NX can have its own color property - faces, features, solids, parts, components.

It would seem the STEP exporter (assuming you mean that one by "export function") only considers solid body and solid face colors during export, ignoring any component-level data.

The JT exporter, on the other hand, has the "Export Assembly Structure" flag, allowing it to export component colors as well.

The color you are looking for is assigned to the bodies, not the file itself.
You can show that column in the Part navigator.
The step export reads the body color, not file color.

Tomas
