Hello, I am using NX 7.5 and have probably a strange query. When creating an assembly drawing is it possible for the various parts in the assemblies to bring their respective colours into the drawings. At the moment I have loads of black lines on a white background, but if I model a part red for example can the lines of the part be red in the drawing. I have a large assembly and want to be able to view each part in the assembly drawing easily. Does this make sense? In other words like this as opposed to black and white.

It sounds like you've got your Drawing colors set to 'Monochrome'. Go to...

Preferences -> Visualization -> Color

...and check to see if the 'Monochrome' option is toggled ON in the 'Drawing Part Settings' section of the dialog. If so, toggle it OFF.

Hi John I have looked at the monochrome and toggled it on and off but either way it still make the lines all the one colour, either black or blue.

In the view style go to the visible lines tab, click the color to bring up the color picker dialog, [kbd]Ctrl[/kbd] click on the selected color to clear it and press OK. The visible lines will now inherit the color of the component.

Repeat for hidden lines, smooth edges, etc as needed.

Change your template file and/or customer preferences to avoid having to do this on future drawings.

Thanks very much for the quick answer!
