Combined Stair and Lift Lobby Pressurization Shaft.

I would like to ask, if it is possible to combine in one shaft the Lift Lobby and Stair Pressurization? The Two areas are adjacent to each other and a shaft is in the mid of it. I would like to used the shaft (masonry shaft) as the conveyor of the pressurized air that will serve both areas. Any code violations?

We should know what code and how many levels in the building.

Most codes require stair pressurization, not elevator shaft pressurization.

The stair should be enclosed with fire rated construction and pressurized depending in the levels served.
 
Not the Lift Shaft but the Lift Lobby and the Stair. I wanted to pressurized both areas via common masonry duct. Will it be possible? I will add both CFM value of each area, then produce the quantity by way of one shaft. The building is 24 Storey high. Thanks again.

Reading the IBC ed 2009 there is a requirement for elevator lobby in high rise that can be sustituted by elevator shaft pressurization.

I believe that the air flow rate to pressurize both stair and elevator lobby with the same system would be too high. There is the possibility of many doors open that difficults pressurization.

I would go with stair pressurization and elevator lobby fire rated enclosure.

nickmathew, the elevator hoistway should achieve about +0.05" w.c. and the stairwell should be 0.10-0.35" w.c. Will you provide devices that proportion air between the two sides? Also, will you be well firestopped with little leakage in the masonry shaft? You might need fire dampers at each stairwell or hoistway opening.
