Hi,
I want to combine an Ex.d approved gas transmitter, placed in an ATEX Zone 2 area, and connect it to a Ex.i approved barrier to convert the analog output to a digital safety input. This would be required to obtain a hard-wired detection to invoke safety actions and disable an installation, without the intervention of a PLC. Only, it seems not allowed to combine Ex.d with Ex.i. If the sensor would be installed in the gas zone 2 and the barrier outside of it, would that still be against the rules?
Hoping for answers from an ATEX expert...
Thx in advance,
Pete
