Combining two circuits in PLS-CADD 1

Hi,

I have two separate PLS-CADD files with two circuits modeled separately.
The two circuits are strung on one double circuit tower.
What is an easy way to combine the two PLS-CADD files, such that the conductor stringing is maintained?

Thanks

I do the structural stuff so my PLS-CADD skills are minimal. I'll ask the experts at work on Monday, but you might try opening 2 instances of PLS-CADD with each individual model open in each. I'm not sure which menu drop down it is in but open the sections table and copy and paste from one XYZ model to the other XYZ model. If all the structure numbers are the same between the 2, it should work.

Reply back if that works.

I cannot think in an easy way, but what I would do is offset 20ft or so one of the lines so they don't overlap when you merge them, import/merge both DON files, and then using swap "translate" the cables structures by structure from the offset line to the other. Of course you would need to be sure first that both models have the same feature code, criteria and alignment.

Depending on how long is your line and how many sections you have, it might be faster to simply string the second circuit from the scratch.

I checked with the expert at work and he does not know of an easy way to do it. I would make a new copy of the XYZ that will hold the 2 circuits. I would then use the graphical stringing option and string a new wire from one end to the other and let PLS connect the wires to the structures. Once all wires are strung on the structures, I would open up a new instance of PLS-CADD and open the line with the correct sag and tension parameters for the wires you added to the other model. I would then edit the stringing parameters from the old model to the new model and make them match.

When you are done you will have both circuits on the towers/poles. If you have LIDAR points of the existing wire, you can adjust the sag to match the points.

Easiest way is to have both models open in separate instances of PLS-CADD. Then copy and paste the section info, one at a time.
