Common Material Finishes

Hello,

I'm looking for some information on different types of finishes or coatings (corrosion resistant) commonly available for aluminum 6061 I commonly use anodizing and electroless nickel. On different machines I've seen aluminum parts with a clear coating that feels smooth like an epoxy.

Probably a powder coat finish.

I have seen lots of chemical film as per MIL-5541. Typically, this provides either a paint substrate an/or an electrically conductive finish. If you specify CHEMICAL FILM ROHS COMPLIANT, you don't get hexavalent chromium, which is good. You also do not get the yellow dye that tells you they applied the finish.
