Need to run a weld buttering procedure qual to Section IX in accordance with QW-283.4(b). This section states that I may use "any P-number material that nominally matches the chemical analysis of the buttering weld metal". The buttering weld metal is Inco 82 (ERNiCr-3). Has anyone done this before and what did you use for the base metal? Since the Inco 82 is an F43 can I just use any P43 base metal? Is that what is meant by nominal? If so I was considering using Inco 600. Or is there some particular min/max range I should be considering for each element of the chemical analysis?
