What equipment and flow formulaes do a person need to compare the efficiency of compressor to it's designed output. I need something basic but reasonably accurate.

Mass flow measurement devices are available from OMEGA Engineering ( inexpensive ) as well as from Invensys ( high accuracy, industrial grade ). See what output results they can provide and then you can work backwards to determine if there are more simpler means if you want to sacrifice accuracy and speed.
