Compressive strength in ACI code is it related to Cylinder or Cube 1

in ACI code, in calculation, we used f'c as the compressive strength on cylinders after 28 days.
Where this covered in the ACI code.
Which part telling the the compressive strength is related to Cylinder.

I am aware about this, what I am looking a clear sentence telling the f'c used during design is the compressive strength on cylinder.
is it mentioned anywhere in the ACI code?

The properties of concrete are specified in ACI 318-14 section 19.2.1. (I'm using the 2014 edition because it's the latest that I have handy right now.) The 28-day requirement is in 19.2.1.3. Surprisingly, the code doesn't specify HOW to measure f'c. There is a mention of ASTM C39 in chapter 3, but only for the purpose of specifying the applicable edition.

Other less critical properties are defined, for example air content in section 19.3.3.2, using ASTM C172, C231, and C173.

Perhaps someone with an electronic edition can do a word search for "C39" to see if it's mentioned elsewhere.

I suspect f'c depends far more on days of cure, rather than on shape of testing specimen.

When it refers ASTM C39 which is based on concrete cylinder so you don't need to confuse youreself with cube strengh because cube strenght is refered in EN or BS Codes.

ASTM C39 specify the compressive strength based on avg. CYLINDER testing of two 150x300mm or three 100x2000mm cylinder

As per ACI 318-19 said:
A strength test is the average of the compressive strengths of at least two 150 x 300 mm cylinders or at least three 100 x 200 mm cylinders made from the same sample of concrete taken in accordance with ASTM C172 at the point of delivery, handled and standard-cured in accordance with ASTM C31, and tested in accordance with ASTM C39 at 28 days or at test age designated for fc′.



Time is far more precious than you can imagine.
