I have a 2way slab that is 11" thick and the formwork is a Single post System with a grid 6'x8' and I want to release the forms and leave the Post in place until the allowable Strength is achieved. Beside doing calculations for punch shear for the Steel post, what other calculations can I do that will allow me to give to the Structural Engineer so he can approve releasing the grid system (main beams and Secondaries) to approve early stripping of the system without releasing the post. Any advise and direction would help.

Thanks
John

Ugh I'll be honest this is not usually an EOR thing so much as a contractor don't mess this up thing. So I cannot comment on what you need to provide the EOR...depends on what they want to see, you might just want to ask them if you need their approval?

For me as a contractor I'd look at a few things:

A) What is the compressive strength of my field cast cylinders (forms don't budge if we're under 75% strength)
B) What construction loading are we looking at (forklifts bother me much more than workers for example)
C) What elements support what (you need to strip and reshore in a very particular order less you divert load to undesirable locations)
D) What formwork system I've used and how conducive it is to stripping early without doing something stupid

And how are you going to cure the exposed surfaces after you strip the forms?

Yes, I requested a Cylinder test results after the 3day & 7day. Also, I contacted the superintendent on the Job, to check with me so I could do Calculations for Forklift loading and give him when and how much loading with be allowable, but not sooner than 7 days Break. But right now the Superintendent wants to strip equipment so he can keep going by forming the other slab pours, the longer he needs to wait the more time he is losing on his schedule.
