Hi there,

Does anyone have any advice or experience calculating the additional pressure on formwork when concrete is being pumped out of a boom pump from a great height?

Thanks

I'm a little late to the party, but any chance you hit the tie directly with concrete or the placing equipment? Steel snap ties in conventional formwork have been know to have popped a time or two from just the right hit, though I would be more inclined to believe actual physical contact from the hose end.

There is certainly some very local increase at the point of discharge, but I doubt even a fully instrumented form could really define a magnitude for such a brief load - kind of the cannonball into a pool except your pool walls are somewhat flexible.
