Concrete Driveway Sealing

I hope this questions is appropriate to this forum. If not, a pointer to a well respected site would be helpful.

What is the best way to seal a concrete driveway. I have performed a "Google" search that have sites that advertise acrylic sealers, silane based cure and sealers, etc.

This driveway must survive in the mid-west with freeze-thaw conditions in the winter, with the possiblity of road salt run off ... without spalling effects.

What is a cost effective means of performing this task? Do the silane based products really perform up to 10 years without re-sealing? What are the better brands?

Another company is WR Meadows.

Generally silanes or siloxanes provide a long lasting sealer. The slab should be hosed down and sealer re-applied every year or two (check with the manufacturer)

Some smooth surfaces can become 'slicker' or more slippery with the sealers.

Some sealers darken with exposure to sunlight (check manufacturer's product literature).

Any cracking of the slab should be repaired prior to applying the sealer.
