I have a footing supporting a mezzanine. The load is about 5500#. When they dug the footing, 6 conduits were discovered running parallel with the mezzanine. See photo. This will affect 5 columns.

I told the contractor we need to move the columns away from the conduits and cantilever beams. Time is of the essence, material has been ordered....... Contractor is begging to dig below the conduits, wrap the conduits in foam, and encase in concrete.

I seen this done for 1 or 2 pipes before but this situation seems like the conduits are too close together..

Let me know your thoughts.

FYI the conduits are about 18" down, the footing is 12" thick

How big are the conduits? Can the footing be designed to accommodate the bigger void? Can the conduits be relocated? If the conduits are small can they be 'sleeved' together in say an 8"split sonotube?

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

Find out if the conduits are live. If not, remove them and all fill soil around them. If live, either move the footings or move the conduits, whichever is easier.
