Configuration Property Manager - not updating??

I have a Design Table which works fine. I created a bogus sketch with a circle dimensioned as variable "size@sketch3". Sketch is turned off.(the only reason this is here is because SW can't sort by something that is not in a sketch.) There is a "length" variable in sketch 1.
When i insert a part in an assy the manager comes up, allows selection and then deposits the default configuration in the assy. If i remove the config. manager, the configurations change easily and any instance can be deposited into an assy.
Something is wrong with my config prp manager. It sorts fine, under either parameter, but, instead of placing the result, it places the "default" config.
I have no idea. I have many files like this that work fine. I wonder if i have a syntax problem or something.
any ideas????

Could you post this file. I believe it would be eisier to identify the problem with the sample of problematic part.

here's the file.
the default at this time is a 2-56 SHCS. The configuration property manager is set up for SIZE and LENGTH. Note: size is screw size 2,4,6,8,10, etc. not diameter and length is a straight forward dimension in sketch 1.
Size comes from a bogus sketch with a dimensioned circle, and the sketch is hidden.

This is really strange behavior. I was able to reproduce it from my end. I've never seen something similar.

BTW. I've recreated the design table with a simple set of configuration and all works fine. Please refer the attached model.

Probably there is a sense to recreate the table part-by-part to identify the problem. Or probably you should contact SolidWorks support. May be thay can provide more information.
