Is it possible to make a configuration part in catia? All the people who had worked on Solid works know what's a configuration part.
A configuration is: a part with a different lenght. You draw just one part but you create other one with different dimension value and with each value you make a configuration. In the assembly, you load the configurations that you need. In pro_E it's called a family table.

Check the Online Docs for Design Table. You may also want to check Catalogs.

Thank you for your answer.

With the design table, I can make a different configuration. But in the assembly, if I have 5 times the same part and I change the configuration of one of them, all the parts change at the same time. How can I change just one of the five parts?

I don't think CATIA can do that. Maybe you can fake it with layers and filters?

Could you give us some examples of parts you'd use this for?

(I'm thinking of a spring, shown in different lenghts. Or a door shown open or shut. Am I close?)

Using Design Table and Catalog you might be able to do what you need. Check how to resolve part in catalog from a Design table.

Hi,

Just put different names for the parts (add an extention, for example EXT01, a.s.o.) in that Catalog which you have to create with the Design Table.

Hi,

I believe it is possible to have the configurations you are looking for using a design table. But, I think you have to use SmarTeam or Enovia in order to handle the configurations in the context of a catalog.

Good Luck.

The Design Table functionality alone will not give you the same Family Table functionality in ProE. You will need to use a catalog. You won't need a PDM system.

As itsmyjob and KooKoo have stated, you can do exactly what you want using Design Tables and Catalogs, all without a PDM system. Look in your Online Documentation under Catalogs for more information, but it's pretty simple.

Thank you everybody,

I able to make a catalog and a design table but when I insert a catalog part in the assembly, the part name is always the same, is the name of the original part. Is it possible to use the name of the catalog? I found nothing in the Online Documentation.

If your Design Table has a column for Part Number, you should be seeing the Part Number from the row of the table that you selecte. I'm not sure what is happening here, but it doesn't sound like normal behavior.
