Hi all,
I recently completed a project where the specification stated that connection into the coarse filter needed to be sized up before entry to the filter vessel i.e the filter nozzel was 20" and the required header piping needed to be 24". This was not due to velocity or pressure drop as I checked these calcs and everything was within parameters. I am now looking at another project and was wanting to have the header piping the same as the nozzel as it will reduce costs on valves and pipe. Can anyone recommend why there could be a requirement to have concentric reducers prior to entry into the vessel? Does it have something to do with flow? I cannot see why there would be a need for this requirement?
