For some reason I cannot complete the process for inserting a connection point on a shape. This used to work but no longer does.
The settings to show connection points is on, I select the shape, click the "X" for inserting a connection point, press the Ctrl key and the cursor changes to show a small x at the tip, but when I click the point is not inserted and instead the right click drop down box appears.

Could this be an operating system issue? The right click is otherwise functioning.
I'm running XP with latest updates on a Mac (OS X 10.5.8) using Paralells Desktop build 3214.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Are you holding down the CTRL key during the entire operation? Are you using the left mouse button?

Yes, I press CTRL after selecting the "X" and then I left click where I want the connection point to be.
I have the mac side by side with a PC and the behavior is not the same. I suspect it's a Parallels keyboard setting but I've checked everything and can't see any reason for this.

OK, I figured this out.
The settings in Parallels/Preferences/Keyboard/Mouse Right Click were set to CTRL and the connection point process wasn't working. . In order to place a connection point on a shape in Visio if the settings are changed to CTRL+Command it works as it should (meaning just pressing the CTRL key makes it work).

IRStuff, Thanks for the input.
