I am trying to model the phenomenon of the initial start of plasticity in A-36 plate. Specifically, I want to see strain increase at a constant pressure or force until the strain reaches the point that kinematic hardening starts to take over.
I am using Simulation Mechanical 2018 and Inventor Nastran.

It has been suggested that I use a viscoelastic material model, but I am at a loss as to the mechanical properties that would need to be input to satisfy for A-36 at ambient much less elevated temps.

Thanks in advance for heop.

I don't know the details of creep model implementation in Inventor Nastran but apparently it offers basic power law model. If you manage to find constants for this model for your material in proper temperature range then it shouldn't be a problem to simulate creep behavior of this steel.
