Hi,

what constraint can I apply between the a 1D beam element (RED) which is M3 bolt and a hole in 3D bracket (orange)? there a RP in front the bracket where the load will be applied and the RP will be coupled with the M3 bolts. I am trying to monitor the stress on a M5 bolt which is further back in the assembly. I must use a beam element here as I have to fulfill the assignment requirements.

thanks for any suggestions.

Coupling constraints are usually used for this purpose but rigid body or beam MPC constraints would also work.

thanks 'FEA way'. I was able to make a MPC beam constraint. it worked.

I hope you realize that using an MPC or rigid connection between the beam and hole surface will result in rubbish stresses around the hole in the plate.
