what is the typical spacing of construction/expansion joints on mat foundation? is
there any required detail for the joint?

I see no reason why an expansion joint would be used in a mat foundation. Construction joints are generally located to suit the amount of concrete that can be placed at one time, but the less joints, the better. As with any slab, construction joints should be in low shear areas, and all reinforcement must be developed through the joints.
