Hello everyone,
I`m a new abaqus user. I`m trying to define the contact between bolt and nut.
I`m using Abaqus 6.11 (CAE) and after importing, meshing, adding step ecc, i`m in struggle with the contact interaction.
Any advice?
As results i need the pressure and the deformation on the threads.
Thanks in advance

It sounds as your model contains the local geometry of the threads. If so, you should positioning the bolt and nut correctly in the assembly. Then defining *Contact Pair between the threads bolt/nut. Defining *Contact Pair between the flat surface of the nut and corresponding contact surface of the surrounding structure. Fixing the opposite end of the bolt or corresponding. STEP 1: apply a given angular rotation to the nut. Check the resulting required torque to achive this angular rot. The anuglar rotation is applied indirectly to the nut via a RIGID POINT ( 6 DOF) and defining a Constraint between the RIGIG POINT and the upper surface of the nut. The angular rotation is applied to the RIGID POINT.

Portliner, it seems that you have already perfomed a similar calculation: do you have any model to share?

Good morning, unfourtnally I dont have a model. I couls eventuall build one, I will check that.

Hi, I mean rference point, not rigid point. I dont have ABAQUS on my private laptop, will see if I may open your CAE at my work.
