Hello,

I've created a riveted beam in Ansys using Solid95 elements. There are 2 angles and a plate joined by 2 rivets
To create the contact elements i've used Conta174 et Targe170.
What contact elements should i use for the contact between the contact angle-plate ?
Thank you for your answer

you should maybe work on the mesh? I remember having read about 'sharp angle tool' in Ansys help

I did a brique mesh for the plates,
I don't really understand how the FKN influence the contact; what value should i choose ?

With the pure penalty method, the contact force is : F=k*xpenetration
k is the normal contact stiffness.

A large value of k gives less penetration, but the model can oscillate and you have convergence difficulties.
If the value is too small, there is too much penetration.
You have too try different values. I start with a small value and increase progressively.

It is what I understood, maybe someone will correct

Yes that is it. I should do this tests
Thank you

One last question.i have a rivet and two plates
Do you know when i define the contact between the plates what kind of contact elements should i choose? I use also Conta174 et Targe170 and i'm talking in consideration the friction coefficient. Is that it, or is there another solution ?

Thank you !
