The main problem I am facing in my model, is that when running the model the analysis can take over 30 minutes and there is a warning that says "There are 2 unconnected regions in the model."

This is the model that I have created. There is a UDL on the beam and the endplate is fixed at the edges to simulate a weld and the block is also fixed to simulate a column. I have created a contact surface with the master being the block and slave being the back of the endplate, the interaction is frictionless and is surface to surface. I created this model to simulate the endplate being able to warp into the (-Z)axis but will contact the block if it warps in the (+Z)axis. I have created a step using the default settings and the mesh is set to 4.

Could anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

No it doesn't, as I said earlier there is a warning message that says "There are 2 unconnected regions in the model."
 
A warning message doesn't necessarily mean a job will fail as it's only a warning. It looks like the job didn't fail as such as the time steps haven't been cut back. You should see the time step reduce to 0.25 and then eventually fail as it reduces to some small value. It says that there is no force on the model so are you sure you have applied one in step 2. In addition, what do the results look like at the end of step 1? In this step you should have applied a displacement to make contact before you apply the load in step 2.

The reason the job takes so long may be due to the number of elements you've used. If you want to keep that number then let the job run a bit longer until you see an error message or at least until you see it cutting back to some small time step.

Personally I wouldn't assume that the plates would make contact at all and that the welds take all the load, as you can't be sure there isn't a gap there when they welded it up. In addition I wouldn't fix the end of the weld either as it's not fixed but attached to the other block, which will also deflect.
