Hello,

I am having a bit of trouble understanding how the adams contact works between gears. Does the software account for the contact of more than 1 pair of teeth simultaneously? I know that the machinery module, for the spur gears, has a detailed selection that does account for up to three contact pairs at each point in time, but since I am using the standard contact method on gears imported as FEM bodies I dont know if it applies in my case as well.

Thanks in advance

J.K.

Hi,

I assume you are using ADAMS/View with Flex bodies. In this case, irrespective of geometry involved gear or anything, ADAMS will treat it as two components being in contact with each other. So it depends on your mechanism and how have you model your contact.
