is there likely to be a downside to leaving the hi frequency on all the time when TIG welding 1/8 inch mild steel? I'm using a Lincoln buzz box AC/DC 225 DCEN with an Old Grainger TIG kit and a "hi freq arc stabilizer" and I'd have to flip the High Freq AS's toggle switch off manually.

thanks

Yes, interference on other machinery being one of them.
From a welding/technical point of view, no.

Relative to welding, I concur. There should be no issues that affect quality.

Props to your set-up, don't see many like that laying around!

T Moose,
There is one down side to leaving the HF on all the time.
Starting and stopping the arc: as you bring the torch in ,the arc will want to start before you are ready, and as you stop you will pull off a long arc before it breaks.
